Developing our campus
We're investing in our buildings and infrastructure. Our £400m Estates Masterplan is the most ambitious development project in our history.
Over the next few years, we plan to transform our campus, lay the groundwork to meet our teaching, learning and research ambitions, and make a positive impact to the city, with a series of high-quality sustainable buildings.

Future Technology Centre
Our new Future Technology Centre (FTC) will be home to innovative engineers of the future. It's where our students will get hands-on experience of specialist technology, and develop creative answers to the next generation of challenges facing the world.
Costing £12 million to complete, we've equipped it to the highest standard with the help of £5 million from the Office for Students (formerly the Higher Education Funding Council for England) and £1.05m from the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership. It's further proof of our long-standing expertise in engineering.
Located in our northern quarter, the FTC is an extension to the east side of Portland building. It was designed to complement the surrounding architecture.
We'll be opening our doors to industry, with companies bringing projects into the FTC for our students to work on. This collaboration with industry will further strengthen how our students translate their learning into real-world use.
The BEng (Hons) Innovation Engineering and MEng Innovation Engineering courses will teach engineering fundamentals in the FTC, combined with projects that address problems in health, humanitarianism and the environment.

New sports facility
We're developing a new £53 million sports facility for our students, staff and the local community. Located at the junction of Cambridge Road and Museum Road, the building is designed to look like a pavilion in Ravelin Park.
The facility will have an eight-court sports hall, fitness suite, multi-purpose studios, squash courts, ski simulator and eight-lane 25-metre swimming pool. Swimmers will have views from the pool of the natural green spaces outside, creating the feeling of open-air swimming in the park.
A climbing wall, rising up through the centre of the building, will give climbers stunning views of the other facilities across the centre. Teaching facilities, office space and an underground car park on-site will be available too.
The building was designed to set new standards in sustainability, and will become one of the UK's greenest sports facilities. As part of the development, we'll make improvements to Ravelin Park such as adding new pedestrian routes, an urban orchard, and planting more trees.
The facility will strengthen our connection with the local community, transform an important part of the student experience by promoting better health and wellbeing, and enhance our sport and fitness research and innovation programmes.
